So it begins..

Hmmm, where to start…

I guess the beginning of this adventure, when the pandemic was finally showing some signs of lessoning, we like many people wanted to get out and do something. We didn’t want to hop on a plane, we didn’t want to be around a ton of people, so we thought…”Let’s go to Mexico!” We had often heard over the years of living in Phoenix of this little fishing village called “Rocky Point”, several neighbors went often, telling us of their fun. So in July of 2021 we booked a room, at a beach front resort and spent 3 days just enjoying getting away for quick trip. So we enjoyed the beach, and the wonderful weather, we also explored town and surrounding areas, just toying with the idea of maybe getting a vacation type place to come and enjoy every few weeks. We didn’t want hauled water, we wanted to make sure water supply had a long term solution, high speed internet was important because if wanted to get away but still needed to work some, we needed that and we knew didn’t want to be in the heart of the tourist area. I knew I wanted to be on or walking distance to the sea.

Armed with this “short” list… (eye rolls) I started searching, you learn very quickly how (fortunate/lucky/spoiled- not sure of the correct word for here) we are in the states in larger metropolitan areas to have so much choice, maybe to much sometimes to our detriment. The list really narrowed things down to only a couple areas of town, and I had only been looking at homes, ready to move in. However, upon finding this one neighborhood we noticed they had just broken ground on a home and it was for sale. (NOW, keep in mind we were only exploring the idea, of possibly, maybe, potentially buying a place eventually) We both fell in love with the area, the amenities, and the views, it was paradise. Thoughts racing we drove back to our room, and just sat on the patio enjoying the breeze and discussing what we had just seen, this was a Sunday so nothing really open or people to talk to about the property we saw. The next morning was Monday and we had to get home, we needed to leave by no later than 10am to get back to work. We called up a realtor, met her at her office and I think we had already pretty much decided before that moment, but we submitted an offer on the dirt lot with some footings.

The drive home was, interesting, to say the least. We had just spent three days in Mexico, visiting a small fishing village we had never stepped foot in before. We just left a realtors office where we submitted a sizable offer on a home that was not even a home yet! Now we were driving home to continue life. We do not do things like this (well one of us doesn’t I have been known to make spur of the moment life changing decisions.. but WE do not.) (HAHA) So, the next day our offer was accepted pretty much with just a few details to work out, but the “home” dirt and some footings.. was ours!

To Be Continued….
